our
capons recovering from surgery.  Bo
caponized (castrated) the neighbor’s 11 roosters and our 2 roosters (and opened
up a hen by accident-oops!).  Only 3
died.  That’s excellent considering it’s
only his second time doing it and it’s really hard to learn!style="mso-spacerun: yes">
Unfortunately, this morning we woke up to a
pack of wild dogs in our yard.  They had
killed the 3 chicks in the isolation pen.
We were very disappointed but happy that they didn’t get into the
chicken coop and kill the remaining 38 chicks!
Also, our 2 old hens survived and they were roaming the yard.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  We were very lucky.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  So were the wild dogs; Bo couldn’t get a
good shot (houses and animals in the way) so they survived…this time.

and I’ve started some herbs in the other pots.
