on the right is a Rhode Island Red, in the front middle is a Silver Laced
Wyandotte and in the far left in back is a Buff Orpington

All the chickens are hot today, that’s why their mouths are
open; that’s how they cool themselves.
It’s very hot and dry today.  Our
thermometer shows 100 degrees; I’ve had the swamp cooler on all day and the
humidity is only 55%.  I hope the
monsoons start in a few weeks!

only painted the inside boards and the ones holding on the fabric.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  The rest will have to be painted with spray
paint as it’s covered with chicken wire.
The tan colored fabric is a UV/sun protectant fabric that we had on our
windows in Utah.  We thought it would
provide some additional shade for the chicks.
I wet it down with water several times a day when it’s hot because the
wind blows through it then through the coop.
I hope to keep the little chickies from over-heating.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  They are only 3 weeks old.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  They love shoelaces.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  For some reason they tug and tug on my laces
when I go in the coop.  They also are
eating vegetable scraps and fresh ragweed that I pull out of the yard in
addition to their chick starter and scratch.
